GREECE

The Living Library – “In a Writer’s Shoes...”.

The interesting and enjoyable meeting with the writer Glykeria Grekou inspired the students of the 5th grade to become little writers.

Based on Grekou's short story "Angry Little Bear", the students got into the writer's shoes and wrote their own stories.

Cinema Day November 8th

The students of the 1st and 2nd grade watched the computer animated adventure film "UP", (2009)

A delightful and touching experience for our young students who really enjoyed it.

A nice way to celebrate The Cinema Day!

 Meeting a writer

The students of the 5th grade had an online meeting with the writer Mrs Glykeria Grekou.  Before this meeting they had done all the relevant preparation -reading books, learning about her life, preparing questions.

Because they loved her book “The angry little bear”, they decided to surprise her by bringing their teddy bears next to their faces on the screen.  The meeting was very interesting and everybody - students, the teacher and the writer - enjoyed it.

Online trip around the town to visit different monuments/sites

In the beginning of November the students of the 5th grade with their teacher S. Michail  had arranged to take a walk  to the Historic Centre of Thessaloniki. The lockdown changed their plans and they did this trip online.

Fortunately, children have the ability to enjoy simple things and transformed this trip into a game where everyone tried to guess which is the monument, where exactly is it located and what did they know about it.

GREECE ORGANISATION OF A TOURNAMENT – TRADITIONAL GAMES

The students of the 4th and 5th grades played and really enjoyed the traditional game “Tzami”.

TZAMI
What we need :A ball and 7 tiles, stones, bricks , pieces of wood or any similar material you can find.
Number of children: at least  10 players in 2 teams
How is it played : We draw a circle and inside it we put the bricks onto another. From this point we count 7 steps and draw a line. Team A stands behind the line while team B behind the bricks.
Team A takes the ball and tries to throw down the bricks’ tower.
When a player knocks the bricks down the players of his or her team  start running in all directions and try to put all the bricks one onto another. But the players of the other team try to hit them with the ball and get them out of the game.
The game ends either when team A stacks the bricks and say “TZAMI” or team B takes out all the players.

The traditional game “TZAMI” was an excellent chance to cultivate the idea of fair play and fair competition. Also the students understood the importance of cooperation and acceptance of the difference since no one can win alone in a team game!
