ROMANIA. December Activities - Pia Bratianu School.

    Exchanging penpal Christmas letters in English with students from partner schools;

Christmas letters from the Romanian students in the shape of PowerPoint presentations (120 primary students from the 3rd and 4th grades, 6 teachers and lots of parents participated in this activity). We are happy to share a glimpse of Romanian culture with our Portuguese, Italian Greek and Polish partners. In these presentations one can find out more about the Romanian traditions, carols, Christmas dishes and how we celebrate this important Christian event here in Romania! An exciting activity meant to preserve and share our cultural heritage (Christmas traditions) that brought together students from all 5 countries, teachers, parents and relatives.

·         Flying balloons in the schoolyard: messages expressing students hopes UE values and dreams for the future; 200 primary school students (preparatory, I, II and III classes) with their parents flew / released balloons from balconies, in gardens or parks. The children wrote down wishes for the future, messages, dreams and hopes for the years to come. An activity that not only brought joy to the children, but was also a way to publicize our project as it caught the attention of many people: neighbors, friends of the children or relatives were curious about the activity and wanted to know more about it and the project)

C)    Entrepreneurial Activity: Cultural Week Fair.

This activity had to be adapted for the online teaching (in Romania schools have been closed since October). Using online applications (Jamboard, Zoom, Youtube, Google Classroom, etc) 100 students from the 2nd and 3rd grades together with their parents, 8 teachers (primary teachers, PE, Music, English teachers), special guests (theatre troupe) contributed to a successful activity whose main goal was to emphasize culture: traditions, songs, food, festivals organised in different countries around Europe and not only, discovered by the students in a funny and entertaining way. This activity also helped them do collaborative work even in the  online classes, communicate as true classmates and strengthen their friendship.

·         Entrepreneurial activity

Helping people in need is what true entrepreneurs should also do. Our students made Christmas decorations and sent them together with lots of presents to some poor children living in a remote area close to the Northern border with Ukraine...

This activity aimed at teaching the students true values like generosity, empathy, kindness, willingness to help those around you... but most of all, the importance and meaning of sharing.

Music workshop: Christmas carols, songs for children, Disney soundtracks ...and an orchestra made of forks, spoons and graters

·         Theatre: “Santa Claus and the magic of Christmas”

·         Financial education workshop led by an economist:
