Our activities - Romania.

a)    Cultural Figures and Personalities around Europe:
Students from the II, III, Iv, Vth grades (II B, III D, IV A, IV B, IV E, V E) aged 8-11,really  enjoyed this activity. It was one of their favourite! 10 teachers and 185 students participated in this activity that aimed not only to introduce the students to their own culture and personalities (from Arts- music, painting, sculpture; Science-discoveries;  history; literature (poets, novelists, dramatists); theatre; sports, etc. They made short films, PPT or projects in English not only about the Romanian cultural personalities but also about the  European ones: W.A. Mozart, Jose Carreras, Al. Dumas, Claude Debussy, King Michael I, Mihai Eminescu, Al. I. Cuza, and many other famous contemporary people. The Vth graders even impersonated different figures/famous people and organized a show in front of other students, parents and different guests (more than 100 people involved only in this event, organized in the festivity hall). The students even played musical instruments to exemplify famous songs /compositions of famous musicians.

                     Furthermore, this activity brought many benefits and helped the students aquire different skills or improve in various school subjects. For example, while reading books or searching on the Internet in the quest for the necessary materials to do their projects/presentations, the students not only improved their knowledge and cultural education but also their ICT skills (using computer programmes, printing, saving documents, creating folders, etc). “Reading” is also a major accomplishment – as we are all aware of the fact that reading in general, has become a major issue with students nowadays. We believe that one of the project’s major goals was met. The impact of involving the students in these types of activities, stymulating their creativity and wish for “knowing more”, multiplies its value far beyond the duration of this Erasmus+ project. The passion for learning is a gain for life! The students not only learn about other cultures but they broaden their minds, develop critical thinking and abilities necessary for a lifetime.
b)    Literature: The Living Library:
     WE invited and collaborated with several personalities from different fields:
Theatre: Mr. CLAUDIU BLEONT – actor;
                     The students talked about theatre, films, emotions, fears and joys, about Gargamel and Dracula with the famous actor. Big questions from little children (Preparatory class):
 “Are you nervous when you get on the stage?”/ “ Are you sometimes scared?” “What is it like to be an actor?”
Arts: Mrs. LAVINIA MIRESCU -painter;
             An activity about the passion for Arts, painting and Tonitza (famous Romanian painter)
Mass-media: Mrs. SIMONA PATRULEASA – famous Romanian TV presenter.
“ In the shoes” of a famous person ...The students were interested to know how things work on the set, if a presenter needs to learn by heart everything he/she has to say, etc.
       The students of class I C received an invitation to visit a real TV set and participate in a tv show as special guests!!!

d)    Workshops: Creative writing – “Sailing on a Sea of Culture”:
The students from class IV B and II E created short stories inspired by Romanian fairytales or literary works. They even created their own little books (with colourful pictures and writing)

     All these activities have numerous benefits for students and teachers alike. For students: improving their ICT skills, the use of English, improving creativity, artistic abilities, knowledge in general, communication and cooperation. Getting involved in cultural activities in general, will definitely help them to get better academic results and, why not, planting” the seed” of learning for their entire lives.
