World Animal Day is celebrated annually on 4 October.
The date was chosen in 1931 during a convention of ecologists in Florence. The choice took into account the fact that October 4th is the day of St. Francis of Assisi, the patron saint of animals.
Main objectives of the celebration of World Animal Day:
1.Sensitize the population to the need to protect animals and the preservation of all species;
2. Show the importance of animals in people's lives;
3. Celebrate animal life in all its aspects.
