Mother and father's day.

At the end of May at the Primary School Stefan Żeromski in Strawczyn, we solemnly celebrated "Mother's Day" and "Father's Day". Although in Polish culture, these holidays fall on different days - "Mother's Day" on May 26, and "Father's Day" on June 23, it was in our school that the children decided to combine these two great celebrations. The first of them has roots taken from the culture of ancient Greeks and Romans, when the cult was surrounded by mother-goddesses, symbols of fertility and fertility. This holiday was reborn in the seventeenth century England under the name "Sunday at the mother", and in Poland it was accepted after independence in the interwar period, although it did not have a fixed May date. It was only after the Second World War that the "Mother's Day" was established on May 26. A younger holiday in tradition is "Father's Day", started in the USA in the state of Washington from 1910, and in Poland it was celebrated for the first time in 1965. The day of this holiday falls in Poland on June 23. Our children, to celebrate these two important persons for them, prepared beautiful performances and gave their parents hand-made cards and small presents.
